Other surprises of the day included finding an arcade in the basement of a building filled with Korean teens playing high-tech video games. Quinn and I found ourselves enamored by these little booths equipped with all-you-can-sing karaoke for not much money and microphones that make your voice sound much better than in reality. We had a nice singing session of "Sweet Caroline" and a little OutKast. The day's adventures continued by discovering a 24 hour department store/supermarket/cleaners/hair salon/eye doctor called "Kim's Club". The best part of this place was the samples (hello HyVee in South Korea)! Quinn and I ate some dinner at the food court in this place where ordering was an experience in itself. There are about 5 different restaurants, but only one cashier to order from and then you wait at the individual restaurant for your number to appear to pick up the food, pretty smart. Luckily, there were containers with models of the food, so while Quinn stood by the cashier I ran and pointed to our order. As we were strolling back to our apartment, we stubbled upon an amazing bike path and river 2 blocks away. The river looks "natural" aka a brown mud color, but the bike path is well maintained and could prove a good way to discover the city. We ended the day by going to see Avatar in 3D, very cool, but the blue people's language was subtitled in Korean...oops. The language barrier continues to be tough, but it is amazing what non-verbal communication and pointing can accomplish.
